The Position of incendium in the Legislature of Cornelius Sulla Lex Cornelia de Sicariis et Veneficis

Counter to the name of the most important criminal law of Sulla and against the names of the tribunals established on its basis, the range of prosecution set by the dictator was not restricted to crimen inter sicarios and veneficium. Also, incendium - arson - got within the range of punishability. Although incendium had its own legislative tradition, which predisposed it to gain an independent and separate position in the Sullan legislature, it was included in the lex Cornelia de sicariis et veneficis. The latter part of the article, where I try to convincingly present the connection between incendium and, especially, crimen inter sicarios, shows that it happened for a good reason.
