The government regulations and decrees of the occupation administration are key. However, in terms of the functioning of many of the laws adopted in the 1930s, unlike the dramatic impact on the lives of the population during the introduction of the new regime, this was not a change that was immediately manifested or reflected directly by the official authorities in the concrete new situation. This is particularly paradoxical for legislation that was enacted to protect the country's defences against external aggression. Thus, Act No. 131/1936 Coll. on the defence of the state remained in force even though there was de facto nothing left to defend because the country was occupied. The fundamental overall changes in society that accompanied this law immediately after the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The intentions of the National Defence Act should be set in the context of the situation in which it was created and how different the situation was during the Protectorate and the state structure, which had its own distinct specificities, including with regard to the functioning of the administration and the running of the authorities. In many respects it was even a kind of “legal lawlessness” that the occupation brought about.
Tomáš Řepa Copyright © 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.muni.cz/dejinyadejepis/article/view/45223 Pá, 11 zář 2026 00:00:00 +0200 Výstavba tvrze Hanička pohledem stavebních deník https://journals.muni.cz/dejinyadejepis/article/view/45224
This study focuses on the process of construction of the pre-war Czechoslovak fortification, specifically the Hanička fortress, which was part of the Czechoslovak fortifications against Nazi Germany. The fortress was built in 1936-38 by the Prague company Ing. Bedřich Hlava. The construction was managed by the headquarters of the X. Engineer Group, based in Rokytnice v Orlickéch horách. The focus of the presented study is a description of the construction process itself, focusing on extraordinary events during construction, which the author understands as visits - inspections related to the construction, whether of representatives of the Czechoslovak army or ministries. Other extraordinary events were injuries or fatalities, which also occurred during the construction of the Hanička fortress.
Jiří Štěpán Copyright © 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.muni.cz/dejinyadejepis/article/view/45224 Pá, 11 zář 2026 00:00:00 +0200 Třídní Češi nemocní dějinami uprostřed informační války. Historické dezinfonarativy v českém veřejném prostoru, jejich kontexty a souvislosti https://journals.muni.cz/dejinyadejepis/article/view/45225
The study focuses on disinformation narratives in the Czech public space that misinterpret history. Manipulative interpretations of history are placed in the context of the contemporary information war. Some Czech politicians and publicists misuse interpretations of earlier and more modern history in an effort to fragment public opinion. The study analyzes specific examples of disinformation narratives that draw on distorted perceptions that Czech society has about its own past. These misinterpretations have often been present in Czech public discourse since the national revival in the 19th century. The study gives examples of conspiracy theories about topics from older and newer Czech history. The study also discusses the aversion of part of Czech society to its own elites and the exploitation of this aversion in the information war. The study also deals with manipulations that exploit personalities and events from Czech history for political purposes.
Marie Koldinská Copyright © 2026 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://journals.muni.cz/dejinyadejepis/article/view/45225 Pá, 11 zář 2026 00:00:00 +0200 Smysl českých dějin je v nich samotných.
