Abstrakt
The article investigates relationship between size of an enterprise and innovation activity. Existing literature and results of empirical studies are unambiguous in findings if large or rather small and medium enterprises shall be deemed as the key bearers of innovation activity. Our analysis was performed in conditions of eight industry sectors in Slovakia for the period of 2008 – 2012 using average data on sectoral level. Our results show existence of positive statistically significant relationship between size and innovation activity that seems to be rather nonlinear. The article forms partial output of scientific project VEGA No. 1/0328/13 „Modelling of causal relations of innovations in small and medium enterprises“.
